Pondicherry Women’s Commission had received
a complaint from a lady for shelter. During the enquiry, Commission
came to know that complainant’s grand-daughter aged about
7 years was raped by one man aged about 26 years. During the
enquiry it also came to light that proper action was taken by
the concerned police station, but the parents of the victim
needed protection and hence they were shifted to home run by
NGO’s. |

Commission had received a complaint from group
of women who borrowed money and pledged jewels. Many others
were also involved in this issue and hence the matter was discussed
with Hon’ble Chief Minister of Puducherry to do the needful
in this issue. |

Pondicherry Women’s Commission had received
a complaint from one lady who delivered child in Puducherry
Maternity Hospital, for wrong treatment by the Medical Officers.
Recommendations were sent to Hon’ble Health Minister to
conduct Departmental enquiry and to take immediate action. |

Pondicherry Women’s Commission had received
a representation from Dwcra’s group in Puducherry. As per
their statement, Social Welfare Department has decided to give
open tender for the supply of grocery items to Government Hostels
/ Anganwai. Many business men have applied for this. It is quite
natural that poor women cannot stand in competition with business
men. Pondicherry Women’s Commission has strongly recommended
not to allow this practice. Only women groups should be allowed
to supply this grocery items to Government Hostels and Anganwadi.
This was accepted by the Government and open tender was cancelled.

Pondicherry Women’s Commission had received
request from one lady who has a mental and physical retarded
girl child at Karaikal. She is working in the Health Department
and even after many requests for her transfer to Karaikal, it
was not accepted by the Government. On request and recommendation
of Pondicherry Women’s Commission, to Hon’ble Health
Minister, the lady was transferred to Karaikal so that she can
take care of her physically and mentally retarded girl child.
